I've been hearing this ridiculous term for my entire life, and, when I really think about it, it seems like a meaningless phrase used to soften the blow of calling somebody stupid. Is street smarts, oh, say, not making eye contact with the crazies on the city bus? Is it being able to bluff well while playing poker? If you know how to fend off a mugger with a car key, does that mean you're street smart?
